[D4 EE] RP Thread: A Musical Evening

[Terrance Stone]

"Perhaps I've been inspired to perform better by my partner." he smiled. "Or, perhaps she lifts me above my shortcomings. Either way, I'd say my dancing has only improved in the last few moments."

[Mariessa Tremaine]

She had been uncertain before if he was showing any interest in her apart from the polite kind, but maybe it was just the drinking and dancing that made him even more charming than before, she tried to reason, even if she nearly missed a step in the dance.

"Terrance," she looked away bashfully, "you... flatterer, you. I bet you say that to all the girls you dance with."

There was a moment of... hesitation?

"I confess, I have a weakness for pretty girls." he admitted. "But, none have been like you, Mari. Not with your spirit. You are beyond any woman I could have hoped to meet."

[Ser Harben Varner]

"Less interesting, certainly," she agreed with a smile as she followed along.

Harben’s smile faltered, but for only a heartbeat. Even if Marten or Kevith weren’t looking in Mariessa’s direction, he had been. But now he turned his dance partner, putting his back firmly to Tremaine heir, and seeing the Lady Alicent with eyes anew. “You are most graceful, thank you for making time for a simple knight.”

Her eyes widened in surprise at the boldness of his words. It was... a lot to take in for a young maiden who had up until this point been very unsure about what he had been thinking about her, and then suddenly all of the expectations of others and the needs of her family all kind of collided together in her teenage-mind.

Mari looked quite like a startled deer as she stepped away from Terrance and curtsied quickly. "... Thankyouforthedance," she said in a rush of words, before moving away like the aforementioned deer... though what kind of deers had beet-red faces?

He stood there for a moment, alone on the dance floor. Then a look of acceptance crossed his face and he returned to his corner, to watch the room again.

[Alicent Feyther]

Harben’s smile faltered, but for only a heartbeat. Even if Marten or Kevith weren’t looking in Mariessa’s direction, he had been. But now he turned his dance partner, putting his back firmly to Tremaine heir, and seeing the Lady Alicent with eyes anew. “You are most graceful, thank you for making time for a simple knight.”

Alicent suddenly found herself turned, and had a front row seat to watching Mari flee from Terrance and his moment of lonesomeness. What on earth is going on? Well, he dance partner deserved her full attention, anyway. She gave him a warm smile, an air of sympathy but not pity at the faltering smile. "As are you, Ser Harben. I find people are only simple until you get to know them better. I'm sure you have your own layers." She said it with the tone of a compliment.

“You are most charming and kind, m’lady, thank you.” He had the good grace to not deflect her words with excuses or explanations, but rather concentrated on guiding her through the dance, aware of the other couples around them, many of whom were on their way to drunkenness, and not paying much attention to their surrounds.

[Kylie Redwyne]

"Claryssa, stop pulling, it's supposed to be flowing." Kylie laughed at her friend as she sipped what was meant to pass for wine. Now it was Claryssa's turn to laugh at the face Kylie made before it returned to the practiced grace she was known for.

Across the room, she saw Leovall. She'd seen him not an hour or so before and yet she found the sight sweet.

[Leovall Marten]

Chatting away to his companions it is a few moments before he registers the woman across the room looking in his direction. Having drained his glass of wine he flashes her a smile, clapping each knight on the shoulder as he gets up. "Excuse me gentlemen."

Once again he found himself zig-zagging between tables as he walked over to where Kylie was sitting with Claryssa. He sweeps into a grand bow when close. "Ladies. You each look magnificent. I hope to see you in a dress more often Claryssa, and Lady Kylie... well, my words fail me. You're exquisite. How are you both enjoying this fine evening?"
