[Maester Simon]

"Ah, is that so." Simon nodded, following her gaze. "If, such truth is to be found. Many tales are likely fancies of wet nurses and drunkards. Tales retold and retold unless little, if any truth remains. Dead men walking beyond the Wall? Maybe someone saw a haggard and old wilding in poor light? Or maybe someone saw a corpse and thought it moved. Flights of fancy both."

[Alicent Feyther]

"But an old wildling is still a basis. It doesn't have to be some sort of supernatural fancy to be interesting or worth knowing," she suggested. "I think it's better to have the truth in hand, regardless of its nature."

[Maester Simon]

"Well, yes, but no-one has ever claimed that wildlings don't exist. That's why the Wall is there." he waved his hand in the general direction of the north. "So that the northerners can be safe from marauding savages."

[Alicent Feyther]

"I think we've gotten slightly off track into the minutiae of specific stories," she noted, leaning down a little to meet his eyes since he was sitting and give a smile with a bit of an edge to it. "But I do appreciate that it was worth getting that involved in the discussion."

[Maester Simon]

"Oh, my apologies Lady Alicent." Simon bobbed his head, evading her gaze. "A mind like mine likes to discuss ideas. Figure out the nature of things." he looked up again, smiling as well. "So you are interested in tales and stories?"

[Alicent Feyther]

"I don't mind that part... We just got off track from the original subject and to the legends of the walking dead behind the wall in particular," she said, then sighs. "Apologies, I don't always communicate clearly. Anyway... That's one of the things. In what did you specialize?'

[Maester Simon]

"Eh, mayhaps the fault is mine. I discussed a similar things this morning with lady Mariessa. She was brought up the topic of mystery knights. We ended discussing how stories oftentimes make uncommon occurrences appear more common than they really are. Stories of strange occurrences are told and retold time after time." Simon explained, waving his hands in the air as he was a mummer. "No harm done, mi'lady."

"Mhmhm, I am more a man of medicine, but I have some interest in history as well."

[Alicent Feyther]

"If it was common, it wouldn't be worth talking about," she replied, nodding a little. "Though mystery knights do show up now and again. They're uncommon, but less so than women, for instance."

She paused and then laughed good-naturedly. "And now there I go on a tangent. So there you have it. Hardly in a position to complain. With what you were doing to start, I guess a focus on medicine isn't surprising."

[Maester Simon]

"That might be the case." Simon nodded in agreement. "Worth is of course relative. Lords are maybe more interested in mundane matters. But that's a different story again. There's always two - or more sides to things mi'lady. Perhaps something to keep in mind, when seeking the truth. Whatever it might be." he could not help himself, having been schooled to advise the nobles. Unfortunately, very few lessons were given on how to carry out that task. "Women? I'll have to admit I've never heard of woman taking part to a tournament - considering what a disgrace it would be to her family. Still, cannot claim I can be sure it'd have never happened. World's a big place."

"Well, no. And I guess I've always wanted to feel useful." he paused for a moment. "No better way to be useful than to make sure people get better."

[Alicent Feyther]

She sighed to herself. She just couldn't communicate. That was the problem, as always. "Usefulness is also relative. It's utterly useless for me to know the same thing that for you is the most useful. It's a funny world," she replied with a smile devoid of genuine happiness. "I should probably leave you be. Sorry for taking so much of your time."
