How Was Your Day? (Day 6, EE)

[Mariessa Tremaine]

She nodded a little, chewing on her food. "All true."

"Our House's founder used a sword and shield, but when his descendant set about to structure a proper military unit, it was the polearm that became a favoured weapon for it's use in formation. You probably noticed how both Kevith and my father both used such weapons today."

[Terrance Stone]

He nodded. "And, they made good use of them. I could have used a different spear, I suppose, but I wasn't expecting to participate."

[Mariessa Tremaine]

"Oh?" she gave him a curious look. "What made you decide to participate then?"

[Terrance Stone]

"It seemed fun, and I thought it might be appreciated." he shrugged. "Impress someone, maybe."

[Mariessa Tremaine]

Mari chuckled a little. "You don't have to do that to impress me."

[Terrance Stone]

"Maybe not, but did I?" he chuckled. "And, it doesn't hurt to impress the others."

[Mariessa Tremaine]

"You weren't the first to withdraw, and you put up a fight despite being faced with opponents with superior arms and armor. I'd say that is pretty impressive." She smiled. "... I mean, not everyone can be like Kevith."

[Terrance Stone]

"I wouldn't want to be." he shook his head. "I wouldn't want to be in that much pain."

[Mariessa Tremaine]

Mari chuckled briefly.

"I don't think Kevith quite understands the idea of conceding after taking a hit. But... he was a sell-sword before he met my father, and is much more used to tougher fights than tourney ones. He says willpower is just as much part of fighting as physical fitness is."

[Terrance Stone]

"That's true. You won't last long, if you don't have the will to fight." he agreed. "You fight best when you have something to fight for."
