After the noon, Simon managed to get up from his bed. Donning his robes and combing his locks, he headed out wading towards his lord's tent. Spotting a guard, he walked to the man and requested him to see if Lord Tremaine had some time for his humblest servant.

Marten, freshly dressed in his casual clothes, Marten moved only a little bit stiffly as he stepped out of his pavilion.
"Maester Simon. Please, come in." Wincing, he pulled open the front, letting in some light. He shot his Maester a rueful grin. "Next time I think of it, remind me that this is why I don't wrestle with men half my age. Or Kevith."

"Thank you mi'lord." Simon bowed to his lord and followed him in. "I take you have heard the unfortunate new mi'lord?" the young man asked, his voice soft. Lord Tremaine's sore back could wait few moments.

Marten waved Simon casually to a chair, taking another one just a bit gingerly. "I did, yes." He said solemnly. "Kevith told me about it."
His brow furrowed thoughtfully for a moment, and then he shook his head. "I gather you have something additional?" He asked, his tone serious.

Nodding, he took the seat Marten offered. "So, what did he tell you?" Simon squinted his eyes. "Well, not that there was much to tell I guess." he sighed. "I might, I might not. I checked the body with maester Hubert and that Feyther lady. She seemed interested in... such things. But enough of her. Umm.. yeah, so one stab to her hear, under her breast. The killer got either lucky or knew what he was doing. Or she." he let the news sink in before adding. "Poor lady had no cuts or bruises on her arms which would suggest she knew the assailant."
"Why would anyone want to kill a her is then an another question. One I cannot answer. Well, maester Hubert seemed to consider her insignificant - and happy to leave the mystery for others to solve."

Marten grimaced at the information. "Kevith said he didn't think that she just fell. It sounds as though you've pretty much confirmed it."
Grimacing again, he shook his head. "Have you let Lord Bromley's people know about what you found?

"Well no, she didn't just fell. Whether this was because she was stabbed and then stumbled, or she was stabbed and tossed down remains a mystery. And yes mi'lord, maester Hubert said he would pass our findings onward." Simon concluded his report. "I am sure lord Meadows will make a proclamation of sorts at some point. As for now, it's his people who are looking into it." exhaling softly, Simon looked at Marten. "There isn't much we can do, I am afraid."

Marten grunted, shrugging. "Well... that's unfortunate. Hopefully Lord Meadows' people will be able to find the person responsible."
He grimaced. "I'm glad for Kevith, but I have two daughters. I know it's not your place, but if you could help keep an eye on them..." He gave a half-apologetic shrug.

"Mhmhm." he could only nod in agreement. "Well, I could try to mi'lord, but when they have to run errands instead of taking their lessons it becomes... hard to do so."

"Yes, of course." Marten waved a hand again, just as vaguely as the first time. "Well, it's not really your duty. Kevith can look out for them. And so will I..." He sighed, shaking his head.
"Look out for yourself too, eh?" Marten said. "My daughters do very much enjoy your lessons." His forehead creased the tiniest bit at that. "And... I do appreciate what you did. Before." It was far from the first time Marten alluded to the services Simon had provided, or tried to provide, to combat his wife's affliction.
