With a little chuckle, "ah, big brothers, Elwood's the worst. Ever since he came home with his new wife," she rolled her eyes exaggeratedly, "you'd think he'd just defeated Rhaegar at the Trident, the way he struts around." She was peering sidelong at her companion, watching the girl's expression.

"Ah... Is that so..." She looked away for a moment, a little awkwardly. She wasn't exactly sure how to feel about the intensive gaze as she said that. Even when people alluded to... that family... around her, it wasn't like there was any real connection. And she would've been too young to remember even in the infinitely remote chance that there were. Looking back, she nodded, "Caim's been even more broody lately, too. I swear, if there was a dourness competition at the tournament, he'd take first, second, and third place by himself."

As the girls strolled along the row of stalls, they drew towards a vendor selling fish stewed with carrot and turnip, that he was ladling into day-old hollowed-out bread rolls. Lysa blanched, and pretended to spot something interesting on the other side of the aisle, turning them around and walking away from the offending smell.

"Your dress is lovely," she commented, "I think I saw some dyed pearls earlier that would complement it wonderfully."

"Ah- thank you... Are you feeling all right?" She looked concerned. "I'm sorry, I know it's really forward, but I worry about everyone."

Lysa broadened her smile, "yes, of course. The kitchens have been cooking all day, and the mess of smells all piled on top of each other gets to me after a while." Her words sounded entirely genuine, despite her pale colour.

Alicent couldn't remember, and so gave the answer she would have given regardless: "Of course... apologies for prying. It's too bad we couldn't get farther out to where the air is fresher."

"Certainly, but with the feast starting so soon, I dare not wander too far. Father will be sending someone to fetch me any moment now." She drew a handkerchief and dabbed it delicately against her lips, although the weather was cooling quickly as the sun dipped below the horizon, it seemed there was a faint gleam of sweat on her forehead.

"Okay... well... If it persists after a couple of days, I know a bit of medicine," she says, letting it drop from there. "So, where did you spot those dyed pearls?"

The pair moved along the row, and Lysa pointed to one of the stalls. On a table were a dozen small bowls, each filled with seed pearls. The pearls had been drilled, ready for embroidering, and were dyed in a rainbow of colours, given them an opalescent gleam. There were shades of blue and green, aqua and cyan, pinks and muted blue-purples, and a range of sunny yellow to rosy orange. Lysa indicated to a bowl, filled with tawny pearls like fire opals.
