Hunting Tailors (Day 2 EA)

[Mariessa Tremaine]

"Oh, well... the lands of House Tremaine isn't too far from here, as we are a bannerhouse to Lord Meadows. Riverrest lies near the border to the Stormlands, overseeing the Blueburn river there, as that is part of our duties." She explained as a matter of factly, idly looking at colours and fabrics to pass the time.

"Like here, it is a bountiful land, with brooks connecting to the river going into meadows, glades, and forests as well as hillsides."

[Liliane Marten]

"That sounds nice," she says noticing her seeming poor call on idle chat and deciding to change the topic, "Are you considering a new dress yourself?"

[Mariessa Tremaine]

"Hmmm... not right at this moment, but it is tempting," she gave a wistful sigh, she chuckled. "Perhaps I should ask father for yet a new dress? Though he probably would concede to it as he's rather eager for my sister and I to impress at the festival."

"I just find it tedious. Or rather, it feels a bit like being a show-horse." Mari frowned slightly as she considered some of the silvery fabrics.

[Liliane Marten]

"Having dresses made up or a father eager for you to make an impression?" she asked, "In either case I have a cousin back home who seems very happy as a show-horse." She giggled at the thought of Loraine capering like a pony.

[Mariessa Tremaine]

"The latter," she smirked. "I do enjoy pretty dresses after all... and parties and knightly competition."

"Just... suddenly being my father's heir is a lot of responsibility."

[Liliane Marten]

"Ah, I wouldn't know about that. I would be," she pauses a moment counting in her head, "Sixth or seventh in line. No brothers then?" A moment as she mulls things over, "Have you been trained to lead?"

[Mariessa Tremaine]

"I had a brother. An older brother. But now it's just my sister and I, and as the elder it falls to me."

Mari looked to another bolt.

"I learned a lot from my brother, but I am being taught much more these days..." Though in the end, it was technically her husband who would rule.

"Stupid traditions..."

[Leesa]

As the ladies conversed, the seamstress went about her duties, seemingly oblivious to what was being said as she made her notes. Even Mariessa’s admission regarding her brother failed to draw so much as a glance, or change of expression from the girl.

[Liliane Marten]

She gave a sympathetic nod. "Mmmm, I know the feeling. Well, a little bit. I am far enough away from power that no one much cares about what I do," she sighed, "So long as I can bring in a husband that can fight."

[Mariessa Tremaine]

"That shouldn't be too hard," she chuckled. "Your parents are getting insistant on marriage for you too, or...?"
