Festival of Roses

Rychard was no stranger to the Sign of the Fiddle and Flower, waving to Beth as he entered and finding a seat at one of the smaller tables.

Before he could do so he'd be waved to Leovall's table. The young Marten had been on the look out for Ser Rychard. He rises as the other man approaches, offering his hand.

"Well met. I thought I might meet you in the lists today, but this is good too." He says with a smile, shaking hands firmly. "Wine, ale or mead?"

“It’ll be ale, and it’ll be my coin,” he answered cheerfully, “I suppose none of these blackguards told you that joust finalists don’t pay for their own drinks the night after final tilt?” He turned, “Beth, two here, if you’ll be so kind,” then dropped into the seat opposite Leovall.

"... No, they didn't." He admits with some surprise. Must be because I'm from out of town. Taking his own seat again he is a little lost for a moment. "Not a bad tradition."

Laughing, "can't blame them for trying to save their coin when the ale's near running dry. You put on a good show, and I say that's worthy of a few drinks."

"It was pretty good, wasn't it?" Leovall replies, sitting up a little taller and looking quite pleased with himself. "I have the bruises to show for it too. That Lord Tremaine however... he was something else."

Grinning, "I was a kid the last time Lord Marten jousted, before - oh, thanks Beth - he married and went to live the Lord's life. It's good to see he's just as inspiring today as he was then."

"He should have kept jousting all that time... or is he the sort to claim he was giving others a chance to shine?" Leovall quips, returning Rychard's grin. Beth is given a nod of thanks for the drinks as they arrive.

"Better," Rychard answered with a hint of seriousness. "He stopped jousting to raise a family. Now his girls are grown, I guess he's back in the saddle. You didn't do so poorly yourself."

I guess not. Leovall looked a little abashed and nodded once. He cleared his throat and moved on. "So, I wanted to find out for myself your... position. On things." Stop beating around the bush. "You've spent some time with my cousin." He has a quick sip of drink before looking intently to Rychard. "By now you know she can be a little unorthodox. However, you've seen how she shines all the same."
