Festival of Roses

Servants spend the morning busily erecting wooden stands out on the field where the steeplechase will be held, needing more room than the Event Grounds could provide. A facsimile of the Lord's box also stands at the head of the field, and fresh flowers are strewn everywhere.

Jynessa sat in the stands once more, though this time she was far less interested in the proceedings. Instead, her eyes were darting through the stands in search of the woman whom had stolen her heart.

Perhaps Rayley had noticed Jynessa looking for her, of perhaps the woman had been doing the same. Either way, the lady made her way through the stands, followed by a guard and a ripple of murmured greetings.

The young lady turned away with her cheeks flushed and kept her eyes peeled to the event. She had no intention of showing too much interest in public.

Rayley pouted. It took some time for her to make her way through the stands, slowed by the nobles and smallfolk alike who wanted to greet her, grasp her hand. Finally, she reached Jynessa, “may I sit?”

"What a pleasant surprise. Of course you may join me," Jynessa said with a bright smile. She glanced around at the others watching them and then looked over to Rayley. "I suppose this is not your sort for horsemanship?" she inquired casually.

Rayley shook her head. The quarters were close on the crowded benches, and Rayley’s should touched Jynessa’s as she sat. “Truth be told, I’m a little frightened of the jumps,” she confessed. “Have you been enjoying the Festival?”

Jyn playfully brushed her shoulder against Rayley's as subtly as she could before turning to address her fully. "How could I not enjoy it with such great hosts?" She suppressed the blush on her cheeks and then looked to the horses. "I do not blame you in the least for being frightened, Rayley."

“Are they always this marvellous?” she asked innocently, “I mean, we have festivals and tourneys in the Stormlands, of course, but they are never this colourful.”

"It is what the Reach is famous for," Jyn noted with a small grin, "Though I must admit, this one has been my favorite yet."
