Hunting In The Green Forest (D2, EM. Open for hunters)

[Mariessa Tremaine]

"I'm sure most men think they are going to win their first time," Mari smirked, joining in the chuckle. Of course it was a completely innocent remark. Right?

"Ah, Terrance is the Master of Hunt of their House... so I expect he'll be doing well this morning," she cast a small glance to the side, curious if she'd spot him or any of the other hunters. "Seems like an easy-going man, nice manners... a little older than Leovall, I think?"

Unlike Jyn, Mari wasn't very good at hiding her thoughts, and that there was more on her mind was obvious as she shifted her bow around in her hand.

[Marten Tremaine]

"Aye, most do." Marten agreed. A moment later, he glanced at Mari, eyes narrowed, but saw nothing. Shaking his head, he continued on.

"Oh?" Marten said. "Nice manners, that's good. What else?" He nodded. "Go on. You can tell your old father, can't you?"

[Mariessa Tremaine]

"You're not that old, father," she retorted back with a smirk, before returning to her more contemplative look.

"... I don't know... I suppose I should mention his name is Terrance Stone?" Not that he was the first bastard she had met, but there weren't a whole lot of them in Riverrest, and the Tremaines had never had any bastards that they knew of. "... I know a lot of people seem to have a rather negative dispositions to such."

[Marten Tremaine]

That got a grin from Marten. "Ah, Mari, you always know what to say."

Marten just nodded, grunting. "Yes. That's good to know, I suppose." He shrugged. "It seems cruel to hold something like that against a man, but I'm not in charge of how the world works."

He was silent for a few moments, considering. "There was nothing else against him, though? Easy-going, well-mannered?"

[Mariessa Tremaine]

Mari shook her head. "We've only met once father," she chuckled.

"It's not like I know everything about him already. Why don't you meet him yourself if you're so curious, hmmm?"

[Marten Tremaine]

"Well, perhaps I should, then." Marten said. "And this Leovall fellow as well. See if they're as well-mannered to an old man as they are to my daughter."

He shook his head. "As for the handsome, well, I think I'll leave that to others to decide. Maybe Jyn will have an opinion." He gave Mari a sidelong glance, smiling.

"Jyn always has an opinion, even if she doesn't always say it," she gave a wry smirk.

"... I guess it will be easier for her to catch the eye of some fine nobleman though." It was easier to find someone who wanted to bring a wife home, after all. And Mari did feel that her sister was much more capable of charming whoever she might have set her eyes on.

[Marten Tremaine]

"Tch." Marten scoffed. "I won't have any of that talk. You're my heir now." Only the slightest of compression of his lips; time made things easier. "Men should be falling over themselves to meet you." His forehead creased. He wasn't actually sure he liked that idea.

"Besides..." He gave her a smile. "Anyone who would pass you over like that is clearly too stupid to be a member of the family. You could do better than someone I'd feel compelled to thump in the head from time to time."

[Mariessa Tremaine]

"Hmmm... it's not just that, father," Mari frowned. That carefree streak of hers was pushed aside to the more responsible and dutiful nature she had adopted after the fire. "Normally ladies just want to find the most eligible bachelor around, meaning they're usually lords or heirs... as your heir, I can't just do that. I need to think of the future of our House."

[Marten Tremaine]

"Mmm." Marten nodded. "Yes. I'm glad you think of it that way."

He shrugged. "And yet, call me old fashioned, but I happen to think that the best man for the job will also be the best man." He chuckled, giving Mari a glance. "Of course, I suppose there's no accounting for taste, is there? I don't know what sorts of things young women look for these days." If he ever knew, of course."
