[Mariessa Tremaine]

"Really? No... she didn't mention it yesterday, though I'm sure she intended to tell me as soon as possible," Mari smiled, figuring that Jyn simply hadn't thought to mention it during the meal yesterday and might have waited for an opportunity to do so today.

"I'd be honoured to, my lady. Let's see... what sort of challenge will we be watching then?"

[Rayley Meadows]

Rayley pondered for a bit, “I believe that will be the wrestling. Elwood likes to take part in that sort of thing, so there will be plenty of room for us in the box.”

[Mariessa Tremaine]

"Wrestling, hm? I don't think I've seen a proper competition for that," she mused with interest. "Sounds interesting! I wonder if father is going to try himself at that. He seemed years younger during this morning's hunt."

[Rayley Meadows]

"The jousters tend to be terribly good at it," Rayley observed, "something about the strength needed to wield a lance while controlling a horse, maybe?"

[Mariessa Tremaine]

"A lance is a fairly heavy weapon," Mari noted, "though using it requires more than just upper body strength, as you need to account for the shift in your own balance in the saddle when wielding one. A shield helps a little with this, though... and a jousting lance is not as heavy as a war-lance..."

She gave a smile. "But, I am probably boring you with such talk, my lady. The day is still young, and here we are talking about things still in the unknown future!"

Giggling, "oh, I've heard it all. Elwood just loves talking about horses and tourneys. It's why he and Cortney get along so famously. Once, they spent three hours at the dinner table just talking about the ideal sharpness of a sword edge."

[Mariessa Tremaine]

Mari's initial thought was that it was a more lewd meaning behind the words, but she figured Rayley didn't think along those lines.

"Ah well... men," she rolled her yes with a chuckle. "I will make sure to swoop in to save you if I see you caught listening to such boring talk again, my lady."

"I will be in your debt," Rayley grinned, "but it seems that you have an interest in that sort of thing yourself?"

[Mariessa Tremaine]

"Well, a little bit... my brother used to love talking with me about this sort of thing. As I was always the 'wild' one of me and Jyn, we used to play a lot together and he would tell me these things as he was learning them." Mari smiled sheepishly, knowing it wasn't a very lady-like thing.

"That sounds nice. I wonder what it might be like to have a little more in common with Elwood," her voice took on a wistful, wondering tone.
