[D3 EE] Favourite Nieces (Lord Bromley's Solar)

"I wish there was more I could offer. It is difficult to lose one so beloved." There was a fire on the hearth of his solar, and though the warmer weather had arrived with blooming of the roses, the solar was noticeably more temperate.

Lonely? But... I'm not marrying out? Mari felt a little confused as she accepted the wine as well.

"It is difficult, my lord, but... you've already been kind and understanding to our family, we could not ask for more of you," she offered with a kind smile. "At least, I think father is benefitting from being here for the festival. The years don't seem so heavy on him these past days, like when we were out hunting yesterday, or when he was in the dressage earlier today."

That seemed to cheer the old man somewhat, “that’s good to hear.” Nothing makes a man feel older than an untimely death.. “And I trust between the two of you, fending off half the young men of the Reach has been keeping him and Kevith busy.”

Seeing their old 'uncle' cheer up at least made her feel better. "Oh, there is that," she chuckled softly, "we can hardly speak with a young man before either of them is inquiring all sorts of things. I just hope they're not going to scare them off for good."

"Indeed. I too have noticed that many of the young men present are quite eager to earn our favor. The question is which one is the most worthy," she concluded with a sly smirk on her face.

Leaning forward, “you must tell your Uncle Bromley, have any caught your eye? I want my favourite nieces to be happy, after all.”

"Uncle!" Mari exclaimed bashfully and brought up a hand to her cheek to hide some of her blushing. "It's only been a few days... don't you think it's a little too early?"

Jyn smiled at first until a realization hit her. She lifted her wine to her lips until her cheeks were no longer flushed before continuing. "I too believe it is too early to decide on a potential husband."

Chuckling, “you don’t need to be coy with me, I have a daughter too. Besides, did I ever tell you how I came to marry my wife?” A pang of bittersweet memory set love and pain at war within him, but in the company of the sweet girls he thought of as family, the happiness of the Memory was winning.

"No... I don't think you did. Please, I would like to hear it," she inclined her head, waiting for him to continue and she took a sip of the wine.
