It's Been A Long Time (D1LM)

[Marten Tremaine]

"Oh really?" Marten said, giving her an interested smile. "Aegon's Conquest, eh? Well." He scratched at his beard thoughtfully. "Tell you what. That certainly sounds worth of an exchange. I'll tell you a bit about my family's founder, and you can tell me some about yours." He grimaced, shaking his head. "It's been a while since I've told anyone about it. I hope I can remember it all."

Marten nodded, confident. "I'm sure it will be fine. There's nothing that he seems to like more than an attentive pupil. I think he'll find one more a treat."

[Alicent Feyther]

"Sounds like an exchange I can appreciate," she agreed with a smile. "All right... Thank you."

[Marten Tremaine]

Marten gave her a pleasant smile. "It will be my pleasure, I'm sure." He hesitated just a moment, and then went on. "After all, I've quite enjoyed this conversation."

He gave her a nod, smiling. "Come by our pavilion sometime. My daughters will be happy to meet someone else their age."

[Alicent Feyther]

She smiled at that. "I'm glad... I know I can be a bit of an awkward conversationalist at times. And I will. I should probably be heading back, but thank you for speaking with me this evening. I enjoyed the conversation very much, as well."

[Marten Tremaine]

Marten chuckled, smiling as he shook his head. "If you're awkward, you certainly wouldn't be able to prove it by me." He said.

"And I'm glad you enjoyed it, too. Sometimes I worry that younger folk get bored of an older fellow like myself rambling on."

[Alicent Feyther]

"Not at all... It was fun to talk to you." She curtsied. "Thank you again, Lord Tremaine. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day." After final pleasantries were exchanged, she took her leave.

[Marten Tremaine]

Marten sighed pleasantly. A delightful young woman. Just the sort he found enchanting.

Or rather, the sort he found enchanting half a lifetime ago. Or, measuring by his daughter's ages, an entire lifetime ago. He sighed again. His daughters would like her, he knew. It would be good for her to have friends her age.

After one last glance up into the stands, he too went his own way.
