Elyn nodded and wiped her eyes. "I'm sure it was just a terrible accident, why would anyone wish harm on her, on any of us?"

There was a mousey squeak near Jynessa, and another girl muttered "I can think of a reason or two," under her breath.

"Katryn," Elyn snapped, "no one asked your opinion."

[Jynessa Tremaine]

"It is no worry," Jyn said to both of the girls. She looked to Katryn and motioned for her to follow her away from Elyn. Regardless of whether she followed, Jynessa continued with the inquiry, "Why did you say that?"

Elyn glared daggers at Katryn and she moved away at Jynessa's side, but the girl ignored it. "I just happen to think that Leana was a little too fond of talking, that's all. The girl couldn't keep a secret if her life dep-" Katryn snapped her mouth shut, "Mother forgive me, I didn't mean..."

Jynessa raised a brow at Katryn's poor choice of words. She let out a sigh and glanced at Elyn with an apologetic smile. "Did she tell you any of those secrets?"

Katryn huffed, "I can tell you now, she didn't know anything worth knowing, or every girl in this room would know it as well."

[Jynessa Tremaine]

"But if it were not worth knowing, then no one would assault her over it."

A shrug and a sigh, "so she wasn't pushed. She probably just slipped."

"Regardless, she must have been searching for someone. Whose company did she favor here?"

"She had a fondness for the stableboy, but if she was sneaking out to meet him, she wouldn't have been boasting about it all day."
