[D1 EE] RP Thread: Bread and Salt

"No, no... Someone's got to show up from Bear Island," she replied with a grin. "But both would be nice. I barely know anyone here, though I've spoken to a few."

[Terrance Stone]

"The hounds would never have forgiven me, if I had left them at home." Terrance chuckled. "Besides, I'm hoping there'll be a hunt."

[Jynessa Tremaine]

Mari's remark finally perked Jyn's mood. "Many stories indeed," she announced with an enthused nod.

She raised her brow at the mention of gifts before a smile crept up on her lips. "Oh, there was no need to do so, my lord. But I imagine they are better than I can imagine."

[Alicent Feyther]

"The hounds would never have forgiven me, if I had left them at home." Terrance chuckled. "Besides, I'm hoping there'll be a hunt."

"We can't have that... Always important to have their good will," she agreed with a laugh, as well. "I think my brother is hoping for the same."

[Terrance Stone]

"It would be great fun." he grinned. "But, I'm sure that our hosts have all sorts of entertaining things planned."

[Kylie Redwyne]

Kylie was exhausted which left her quiet. The voyage over had been stormy and that always took a bit to recover from. However, she was probably starting to look suspiciously anti-social. She squared her shoulders and began to chat with people, making her way to Lord Bromley Meadows.

He appeared to be speaking with two young ladies. She approached the group with confidence in hand - literally. She curtsied to all three.

"I hope you'll pardon me ladies, Lord Meadows. I don't know if you remember me, but I'm Kylie Redwyne. My father, Paxton, sent this along with me to give you." She unwrapped a bottle, "This is from one of our Eastern vineyards. The grapes tend to be ever so slightly sweeter. I hope you'll find it an excellent vintage."

[Maester Simon]

Clapping the younger man on the shoulder again, "oh, you make me sound so old, boy. I suppose the years have been slipping away while I've been seeing to the affairs of House Meadows. Seems you have an interest in heraldry?"

"Heraldry and history. They do go hand in hand a fair bit." Simon explained, waving his hand in general direction of the colors lining the walls. "Houses come and go, yet their colors remain. And all the arms tell a story. Most of them, at least." Simon's fingers drummed the table as he swirled the wine in his goblet. "And history has tendency to repeat itself. Rebellions, wars, famine. By knowing the past we can cope the present. Or so Maester Lutarch said. Repeatedly."

[Lord Bromley Meadows]

“Don’t be silly,” he was looking at Jynessa, but didn’t hazard a guess at which twin she was, “let me dote on you one more time. My own daughter’s betrothed and will be leaving me soon, and you two will have your own husbands before you know it.”

When Kylie approached Bromley gave Marten a look, “after this, I wish to speak to you, we can meet in my solar.” He turned to the girl, giving her his full attention. “Paxton? Well, how is your father doing?” He accepted the bottle, “this looks marvellous.”

[Maester Hubert]

“And he’s not wrong, lad,” Hubert replied, “you wouldn’t have been more than boy when the good King Robert took up arms against the Targaryens over a woman. The Septons say that he had the Gods on his side, who delivered him to victory, but I don’t think the Gods care too much whose arse warms the Iron Throne. I think the Targaryens forgot how to fight, they’d been sitting pretty for far too long, getting soft and mad.”

[Maester Simon]

"I remember that." Simon nodded. "It was the year I moved to Oldtown. Everyone was talking about. Speculating if he'd do it, take the crown. Or what'd happen if he could. Some thought the kingdom would fragment, that those supporting King Robert would never yield to Targaryen rule. Some thought that little would change even if his grace became the king." Simon shrugged. "Some were afraid that Aerys the second would let his realm burn. Everyone had their ideas. I was... interesting to hear how things panned out. Gulltown, Ashford, Trident and then King's Landing. That King's own sworn sword had slain him. I don't think anyone saw that coming." he added, huffing a little. "Quite a few said that lady Stark was just an excuse. That Robert wanted power and that the Vale and the North wanted to free of the Mad King's yoke."

"Septons say all kinds of things, yet kings have come and gone. If the Gods care about the Iron throne, they sure whimsical. Why King Robert when it could have been King Tywin or King Luthor." Simon seemed to agree with Hubert's assessment of the situation. "Not sure about Targaryens being soft, but I am not much of a military man. King Robert's armies had to fight hard - and in the end, it was treachery that laid Aerys down."
